So as I sit here and write mom is having another life change.
First, I should explain that "mom" is back. She has feelings, opinions, and lets us know them. She says she still is trying to figure out who she is, but she is sure acting like mom again.
For those of you who are not in the LDS religion this might be a little hard to understand, but stick with me.
Mom's ward was disbanded and everyone was split into different wards. (ward means congregation). This was not because of any bad thing that happened, it just means because of life the congregations have shrunk or grown and the distribution of people isn't equal anymore. So to make sure every ward has strong leadership, youth program, and other factors, the leaders over the wards as a whole, have worked on this for over a year and it all came down today.
The good news is -- mom gets to keep some very close friends with her new ward, BUT her whole support group that went through dad's accident and death with her is not a whole group anymore.
Because people in a ward work so close and so much together when Wards split alot of times friendships don't end, but fizzle out, because you don't see each other as much, or work with each other at all. So this really is a life change. I was in a ward change when I was 14 or 15. I thought my world was ending and that my friends and I were never going to be friends anymore, but the truth is I am happy that our ward split. I made some AMAZING friends and my life became better in many ways because of the split, so I am thinking that will happen with mom, just give it some time.
Mom feels like she now has lost everything. Dad, Roberta, and now her ward family. She feels lost again.
We have a great couple here, who will be in her new ward, right now talking with mom trying to help her see the great people who will now be a part of her ward-but being "real" with her as well--a little doom and gloom and little optimism.
Of course mom goes to the doom and gloom-so if you want to go there with her, please call her, if you want to help "life her up" and make her feel better--don't call. I already tried it, got my head bite off, got the lecture that I don't live in reality--so anyone that calls--fair warning!
I also feel like part of moms sorrow comes from fear. Fear of having to go to a further building--we all know how much mom loves to travel (even if it is only 15 miles), fear of having to explain her situation to a whole new ward, fear of having both the rich and the poor in her ward and having that be a division, fear of being lost, or leaned on too much by her new ward members, and many more fears and concerns.
So while I think that it is kind of good for mom to be moving wards--in order to maybe help her see how strong she is alone, many time people have a hard time changing because other people around them won't let them change-not in a bad way-that is just how people are. So who knows what will happen.
Next Sunday Mom will be at her new ward so I will have to write about it next week.
Until next Sunday
Amy

Is she in the Orchard ward now? I still remember when our ward was split in high school and it seemed like the end of the world for a lot of people... but things always do work out. It's never easy "leaving" a ward family though, because they really do become like family.
Thanks for keeping up posted! Glad to hear Joy is doing better! I think about your family often. Hang in there as a family and it will help you all! We love your family! Myrna Welch
Sounds like the new ward isn't so bad, huh? I think my folks are ok with it all now. I worried about your mom when I heard about it. Too much change! But I hope she's liking it now. Ha, I remember that dramatic change when we were in HS, and I was glad to have your girls (and James) on my side of the line :)
amy, so glad you are still doing updates. i was looking through old Christmas cards last night (I keep them all in a binder because i love reading about our friends!) and came upon the last few years from your parents and was wondering how your mom is doing. please give her a big hug from us with a wish for a faithful new year. my eyes are watering as i type; i can't imagine going through a similar experience. so glad you could (mostly) all be together for Christmas.
