Hello everyone, this is Jon, and will be for a while, so I am no longer going to be identifying myself.
Well, yesterday was an eventful day. We went down the Littleton Hospital ICU for the last time! Doran was moved by a ground traveling Flight for Life team to his new home away from home. Kindred Hospital, on 1920 High Street in Denver. It used to be a hotel and you can tell that is what it was designed to be.
We were warmly welcomed by the Occupational Therapist, and the RN's and the Dr, and the case manager, and the guy who delivers stuff from the pharmacy, and the . . . . well, we met just about everyone. This hospital is great so far, and it is much more specialized for patients like Dad. Brain Injuries and the level just under critical care is what is being provided. The staff is very fun, and playful, and expect us to be involved in the recovery process also.
Today the Physical Therapist (PT) said that his range of motion is good. She moved each of his limbs to the point where she felt some resistance. Also she moved his neck around so that it wouldn't get too stiff.
We talked to Dr. Cilo, one of the neurologists. He couldn't say anything other than next week they will begin to try different drugs to "push the brain." What that means I don't know, but all the nurses say that they love working here because it is very rewarding and they see some pretty amazing things. According to the clinical liaison about 1/3 of the patients from this hospital walk home, 1/3 go on to Craig or Spaulding for further rehabilitation, and another 1/3 are sent to nursing homes. That was encouraging to me.
There will be a schedule of when visitors can come and when they can't. He will be on a high stimulation time and a low stimulation time. Also as we figure out more about when the speech therapist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist, come we will let you know, so you don't come trekking down here for nothing.
Right now it looks like 8-10am, 12-2pm, and 4-6pm are the high stimulation time for visitors. Please don't swamp him though.
I don't know if this is really appropriate to put on the blog, but we have a question for everyone. We received 2 mysterious boxes of hot chocolate! I think they are intended for Amy because of her "Hot Chocolate adventures" in the ICU, but if that is not their intended purpose, and you know where they came from then please let us know somehow. Are they something my Dad ordered before the accident for a church or business function?

Hi Jon. Thanks for the update; it was excellent! Can you dump that same update onto the carepages?? Many people would love to hear what you wrote and the last update was last MONDAY! Thanks! Dan
Hi Jon,
It's Krysten Holm (I use to live behind you). I just wanted to let you know that my family and I are following the updates closely. We are praying and thinking of your dad all the time and will continue to do so.
