I tried to blog before it got too late and people started visiting dad, because there has been a change in his condition.
In the last 24 hours dad has started to show the signs that death is drawing closer. If you would like to know more about the signs of death--go to www.hospicnet.org

Since dad is in a vegetative state some of these don't pertain to him, obviously, such as slowedspeech and such.
He is getting colder and often feels clammy. His color is changing to more of an ashy color and his eyes are open, but are very glossy-glazed over. However, his blood oxygen level is still very high, and as the nurses have been telling us "he is young, and in great shape, both of which will slow the process some."
It is very hard and we are trying to prepare ourselves for the end~the nurse told us we don't have to be on 24 hour watch yet, but the changes were so significant she had the RN come in and assess him.
We are assuming that dad can still hear, so if you visit please keep your comments still positive.
