Beginning new treatment!

Hello Everyone,

Here is a picture of his leg brace. You can see the carbon fiber rings around the leg, and the titanium braces between the loops, and the stainless steel pins, and wires. The wires are the top of the leg, and into his foot. The pins are what are holding the various pieces of bone together so they can grow together. The wires are in the feet are only there to keep the ankle at a close to 90 degree angle. All of the breaks in the bone are in the lower leg. Nothing in the knee, or or the ankle.

Today we got in and talked to Angela the OT (occupational therapist) and she said he was tracking a bit with his eyes. And that the neurologist decided to go ahead and begin the stimulants. So he is on two drugs to stimulate the brain. Hopefully this will help bring his awareness level up and allow his will to take a bit more control over his body.

Aunt Patsy (my mom's sister) is here and has been a good comfort. This morning we all went to the temple for comfort, and faith, and prayer. It was a wonderful experience.

We feel like he is so busy trying to see through the shroud of this injury. I imagine it being like swimming when you don't know which way is up. And from other people we have talked to about coming out of a coma, they said that they hallucinated for a while before really coming to something like reality. I imagine it is tiring and confusing, and sometimes scary. So we try to read scriptures, or keep things upbeat so he can feel something warm and good, and perhaps give him a direction to start looking toward.
