Hello again! This is Jon.
Today was another recovery day, meaning that he was resting and looked good. He got a new trach the other day, because his old one had a leak in it. He seems to not cough so much, which makes us happy.
We did find out that they are going to move him to a Long-Term Acute Care (L-TAC) center tomorrow in the afternoon. There he will receive more specialized care and begin physical therapy. They do therapy (so we are told) by just moving his limbs around. This allows the muscles to stretch and contract a bit, and I think it will just feel so good considering how long he has been in the ICU. His new external fixator will allow his right knee to move, which is something that hasn't happened since the accident.
We are grateful for visits and anticipate more when the move is made, however, we want him to be adjusted to his surroundings for a day or so before too many come and visit. Also we know that patients are extremely tired after therapy, so we are asking to hold visits off until we know his schedule, which will be posted on here, and most likely www.carepages.com as well. This will also make sure when you make the trek downtown you will be able to see him. Thank you.
We do appreciate all the support/love/prayers/inspiration/advice/help/comfort/food/thoughts/cards/service/just-about-everything-else that you all have given to us. We hope that some day we can return favors (but that is not a wish that bad things happen to any of you!) when you need it.
