Update---
The family is doing great today. We have some good news. He is still in a coma, but he is reacting to a flashlight in his left eye (his right eye had a giant torn and detached retina in 2000-so it is not great anyway).
He is also being fed by a tube and he is reacting well to that and even had the hiccups today.
We are hoping later tonight a neurologist is coming in to see dad tonight or tomorrow and then they will have a family meeting with many doctors and all of us.
We are not thrilled with our new nurse--she has very little bedside manner--but as long as she does her job we will endure. We hope that our other nurses come back--we really like them.
We are giddy tonight because I think our bodies are finally relaxing and our shock has ended.
Mom was able to get some phone calls and other things-like bank concerns- taken care of today.
We went to the bank expecting another dead end--we keep getting dead ends when we talk to someone on the phone--but when we walked in the first women at the desk said "Can I help you?" Mom said "I am Joye, I am Doran Whitaker's wife." The women immediatly said something like "Oh Doran! Come and sit down--what can we do for you?" She then said went on to give us all the help we needed!! Wonderful person!!
Lots of "walking angles" and the miracle count just gets bigger and bigger! We will have to post some of those.
Mom and I went to the hospital at about 3:00 and we left about 7:00 so it was a short day, but still filled with good news!!
Yesterday we had a great little party for Sedona (my daughter) who turned 4. Everyone gave he a present and then we had some cake. She had a wonderful time and it was good for us to focus on something else for a minute.
Thank you so much for all the love, support, and Prayers!!
Love
Amy
